Supercell, the people who gave us Brawl Stars, Clash Royale, and the legendary Clash of Clans, is now releasing the latest mobile game called Squad Busters

This new game is entirely different from any other previous games but still keeps the iconic characters from the Supercell Universe, like Barbarian, Nika, Baby Dragon, and many more. It is free to play, but there are a few pay-to-win features that definitely benefit those who actually use real money.

It was pretty fun at the beginning, to be completely honest. The controls are very simple; even my dead little brother can play them. But, to make the game fun, of course, there are strategies involved.

To win, you need to pick whatever 3 characters the game offers you to play in that match and unlock more of them throughout the game with chests. If you choose the wrong one, then you’ll have a slow start to the match and will most likely get busted (killed) in that match.

You’ll benefit from winning if you manage to stay in the top 5 of a match. The higher the ranking, the bigger the reward. Additional rewards are available if you manage to maintain your winning streak.

Losing a game will lose you the streak benefit, but you have the option to pay with in-game coins (which are easy to get) to continue the streak.

If you’ve been a good child to your parents, then you can purchase the battle pass that the game provides, and it will help you to keep up with the game much easier.

But for those rascals out there, don’t worry; in my opinion, the game is still enjoyable enough to play with a free-to-play account. At least for now.

The Good

  1. The new way of evolving characters to make them stronger is unique, and the game is pretty rewarding when you play a lot of it. It’s very easy to complete tasks and gain a lot of coins.

  2. Controls are easy to learn and suitable for beginners, although there’s a lot of learning curve to know the best way to win.

  3. Each match does not consume as much time as a few of Supercell’s previous games excelled at.

The Bad

  1. It is quite confusing for new players, as to win is not just to fight but rather to survive. It’s possible that you didn’t encounter anyone at all and still win the match (Top 5).

  2. Most players (including me) feel safe enough at ranking number 5, and all we want to do is run away. A lot of time in this game is spent just running away from something. Since the top 5 players of the match can still continue with their streak, I can hardly find any reason to go out of my way and try to bust people for extra gems.

  3. You get rewards for playing if you have a chest ticket. The tickets will refresh overtime but can only hold a maximum number of 3. Either you have to wait for the newly refreshed ones, purchase tickets with coins, or stop playing the game for a whole day.

Conclusion: This game can be pretty boring after a while if you only play with a free-to-play account, meaning it is heavily tilted towards the pay-to-win kind of game.

I have no complaints about that, though; they also need to think of a way of making money. I’ll give this game a 5/10. Just normal, nothing special.
