Like A Dragon: Yakuza will be coming out this October 24, 2024 on Amazon’s Prime! Amidst the multiple superb video game adaptations lately, specifically Fallout and The Last of Us, Amazon decided to have a piece of that pie, dropping their own adaptation with the beloved huge franchise, Yakuza.
The original game was launched in 2005 and kicked off into being one of the largest gaming franchise of all time, spanning across multiple platforms. The franchise is positioned as an entertaining game for adults and it worked. The series is known to have a huge dedicated fans, intense shirtless protagonists and quirky minigames ever made.

In the game franchise, the series mainly depicts the lives of the Yakuza (duh), a group of gangsters that are fierce but very passionate across a fictional district of Kamurocho, a remodeled of a real district of Kabukicho. Amazon’s decided to explore more on these dramatic stories of all of the intense characters, such as Kazuma Kiryu, and many others. It promises new unexplored stories while remain as faithful as possible to the mainline canon of the franchise. From the teaser trailer, they seems to be taking it back to the roots of Yakuza 0 and Yakuza 1, which is a very good indicator that the TV series will be as long as the game series.
This six-episodes series will be directed by Take Masaharu and Takimoto Kengo. It will be starred by Takeuchi Ryoma as Kazuma Kiryu which is going to be the main protagonist of the series and the series will be set in 1995 and 2005.
